Why us?
South Physio Clinic's physiotherapists are specialized in musculoskeletal rehabilitation. Having attended post-graduate studies in England on advanced physical therapy for musculoskeletal patients, they can undertake the holistic care of a patient in collaboration with their existing medical team if this is deemed necessary.
What to expect?
When a patient enters our facility, they will be introduced to the South Physio Clinic team and then receive a detailed assessment of the existing problem whether it is a musculoskeletal injury or the patient comes to us post-operatively. A qualified physical therapist will take a detailed medical history related to the musculoskeletal problem and discuss with the patient possible causes of pain production or symptom exacerbation. After the interview of the patient has been completed with the detailed reading of possible imaging tests that he has brought with him, we proceed to the objective evaluation of the affected (and adjacent) area where we examine body posture, range of motion, muscle strength and neuromuscular coordination. It is important to note that as accredited physiotherapists we have the ability to assess the severity of symptoms: by discussing with the patient potentially serious symptoms (red flags) and assessing possible pathology of the nervous system, a referral is made to a doctor for medical clearance.

What is your approach?
Having worked for several years in England, our approach is completely based on scientific evidence. For every musculoskeletal condition and orthopedic surgery there are official clinical guidelines, which we use together with our many years of clinical experience to get you to your goal safely and in the right time.
In most cases, the long-term goal of a musculoskeletal patient is to be able to move without pain and to be functional in their daily life. To help you in the first stage of your recovery, when you usually face acute pain and reduced mobility, we use 1-1 hands on manual therapy, whether it concerns bones, soft tissue or nerve tissue.
The use of electrotherapy in the form of tens is usually given as a treatment at the patient's home. At South Physio Clinic you will find state-of-the-art musculoskeletal rehabilitation machines with European certifications, such as TECAR Therapy radio frequency therapy, Shockwave Therapy and medical level Lymphastim Therapy lymphatic massage device.
Another tool of ours to relieve you from acute or chronic pain is the use of medical acupuncture/electroacupuncture. At South Physio Clinic we are officially recognized with certifications in the use of acupuncture on the face and body. It is important to note that we have further specialized in the use of acupuncture for headaches, and facial rejuvenation due to age (wrinkles/lines) or scar tissue. Another tool of ours is: a) the use of kinesio tape to support the area and improve sensation and b) the use of Theragun for electro massage which we often use in the acute and sub-acute stage of recovery.
Based on recent literature it needs to be pointed out that of all the tools a physical therapist has, therapeutic exercise is the most effective method of rehabilitation. This differs from typical exercise that one might do in the gym because the former is targeted exercise for bodies that do not experience pain and to some extent do not have muscle imbalances, while therapeutic exercise is targeted exercise for bodies that experience pain, have adopted dysfunctional patterns of movement or posture, and have been injured.
Therefore, types of therapeutic exercise can be considered any strengthening programs using gym or pilates equipment, aimed at rehabilitation respecting existing pathologies or motor limitations, but above all guided by accredited physical therapists.
In our clinic you will find a designated gym, user friendly to people with different levels of moility, and also a fully equipped clinical pilates studio. Our goal is for you to return to your daily life and work therefore, a large and important part of your treatment is restoring your functional ability.
Which patients do you see?
We accept adult and pediatric patients with musculoskeletal problems. For our pediatric patients, we have a separate treatment area, and we encourage parents to be in the area and watch or participate in physical therapy as needed.
Some of the musculoskeletal and orthopedic conditions we often see are:
- Arthroplasty
- Fractures
- Connective injuries
- Overuse syndrome
- Neck pain and back pain
- Spinal disorder such as e.g. scoliosis and kyphosis
- Postural issues
