At South Physio Clinic you will find physiotherapy support in the area of burn rehabilitation.
Having many years of experience abroad, specifically at the Yorkshire Regional Burns Unit, we can offer physiotherapy whether it is direct treatment or a consultative approach, in the acute or chronic stage of your condition.
Physiotherapy can support burn victims in the following ways:
- Maintaining functional joint range of motion and preventing skin shrinkage with specialized therapeutic procedures
- Treatment of the scar at a therapeutic level, i.e. training the patient and caregivers in terms of massaging the scar tissue as well as the choice of thermoplastic splints and pressure garments (at this point the contribution of occupational therapists/ orthotists is important)
- Collaboration with an existing multidisciplinary medical team
- Education of family or caregivers supporting burn victims

Burnt victims often present with a reduced motor and therefore functional level. The therapeutic rehabilitation of these patients comes to offer solutions aimed at improving the quality of life of the patients.
Especially abroad, physiotherapists, like the other members of the paramedical team, have a vital role in the burn victim's journey through the health system.
